Mothers' awareness regarding cleft palate and their infants' feeding pattern

Background: Clefts of the lip, palate, or both are most prevalent form facial congenital abnormality among neonates. In improving health neonates born with craniofacial deformities, neonatal nurses played a crucial role in educating parents and spreading awareness about disease. Aim: to assess mothers' knowledge practices regarding cleft palate infant feeding patterns. The study was descriptive conducted at Pediatric surgical patients Unit Minia University Hospital for Obstetrics Pediatrics.Sample: A convenient sample 30 mothers children having included this study.The Tools Data Collection: 1) pre-designed questionnaire sheet 2) an assessment checklist practice Feeding patterns.3) Observation checklists preparation, 4) Egyptian Growth Curve Chart (EGCC). Results: majority had unsatisfactory levels related palate. them their infants feeding. There statistically significant difference total scores age.Conclusion: Lack preventative measures taken by Recommendations: Offer periodic in-service training sessions on issue practice.
